Everyone who knows me knows how much I love bargains. I love finding sale items on the cheap. My eyes lit up when stumbling across some hidden gems for 75% off. That’s just me. I know a lot of girls are like me too. That is why Boxing Day is a huge thing.
Boxing Day, “celebrated” on 26 December, is the one day where many retail stores around Australia offer huge discounts and open really really early and close rather late (not really late, because technically, closing shops at 10 PM is normal in most Asian countries!)
So, who’s ready for some shopping?
Here’s a short list that serves as a reminder for me to focus well on Boxing Day:
- Laptop. This one is not a want, it’s a need. Well, as in, of course, it’s a first world problem need, but a need nonetheless. My laptop is literally dying. The CD-ROM couldn’t close properly. One of the hinges is broken and the cable is showing signs of breaking (when that happens, I assume it’s bye bye screen, therefore bye bye laptop.) I wish I can wait for the next-gen MacBook Pro with Retina Display to come out, but that isn’t possible sadly. So a Windows 8 laptop for me. Hopefully hybrid with some touch capability. Gimmicky, but just gimme that! ;)
Where to buy: I usually go for online deals on laptops. I check OzBargain often to see if there’s any good deal. Else it’s MSY for most of my computer needs.
- Christmas tree. Refer to my previous rant to know why I want one. And if you’re wondering why I haven’t gotten one, well, I wonder the same thing too. But oh well, Boxing Day should have plenty of good bargains on Christmas goods, right?
Where to buy: I know BigW sells black Christmas trees (how awesome!) But I might go Myer to check their range. I want a proper nice tree.
- New DSLR “kit”. That’s Canon 5D Mark III and these 2 lenses: Canon 85mm f1.8 & 135mm f2. Maybe I will buy one lens for Christmas. And another one for birthday. And then find another excuse to finally buy a new camera some time next year. Space it out, so it doesn’t seem like much! LOL.
Where to buy: I’d love to purchase Australian stock, but I always end up going online. I’m an eBay person; just make sure you find a reputable seller. I love what DigitalRev does with their videos. If in Australia, I’d check for what’s cheapest using MyShopping or ShopBot.
- Bed mattress. Last year, Jax and I tried on various mattresses and even talked about delivering it in April this year so that we could return from our honeymoon and have a new bed for our new life together. Didn’t end up purchasing. So maybe this year, we need to buy one. Oh and pillows too!
Where to buy: Probably will go to Snooze or FortyWinks or one of those places. Ideas and suggestions peeps?
- Books. If they happen to go on sale. I’m doing my 12 books in 12 months project next year. Would really love to purchase some good books to get myself ready for next year. I will keep my blog updated with the books I choose as well as reviews after.
Where to buy: Definitely online. Always check Booko before doing any further shopping. But most likely, Book Depository will be the cheapest.
- Just the normal girly stuff a girl buys when shopping. Clothes, accessories, stationery, what-nots. Everything and anything! Within budget of course.
Where to buy: Everywhere.
I must really plan well. LOL.
What’s in your to-buy list for this Boxing Day? Where do you usually do your shopping for good bargains and awesome stuff?
