Introducing my very own “HELLO SANDWICH かわいく暮らす、ものづくりのアイデア帖” book!
I haven’t had a chance to try making any of the art & craft tutorial in this book yet, so this is more of a quick look review. Or, more like, a “show off cos I have this book and you don’t” review. Either way, enjoy it!
For those who don’t know, Hello Sandwich is a blog/brand by an Australian artist/designer, Ebony, who lives in Japan. Yep, now you know why I love this blog heaps! Her style is so colourful and whimsical and fun. Yep, now you know why I got so excited when I received this book from my friend…
I love receiving belated birthday presents! (Okay, I just love pressies in general…) And I love it even more when finding this gem in my bag of goodies from one of my BFFs.
So, there are five parts to this book, each of them have plenty of DIY step by step guide to making pretty things to prettify your life!
The first part is stationery. Warning: every page is so cute and colourful, you’ll want to squeeze the book…
The second has DIY guide to make items for your bag… This also includes some really kawaii hair tie tutorials that I’m dying to start making now!
The third part is lifestyle. Think home and kitchen type of stuff. And then think pretty, because they are all pretty!
The fourth part is gift wrapping. When I first read that, I thought: “Like, teaching me how to wrap a gift? That’s… not hard, right?” Well, if you’ve been to Japan, you probably know how much care and attention they put into gift wrapping. Hello Sandwich’s DIY shows how it’s done.
The fifth and last part is photo & journal. Here, you learn a little bit about prettifying your printed photos to decorate your desk, or for scrapbooking purposes.
Apart from the five sections, there are also some random pages in between that show you fun activities around Tokyo, things to do on a rainy day, or even places to shop for materials in Tokyo, Japan.
And when you get to the last few pages, that’s when the magic happens! Free patterned paper for you to start making some of the stuff you’ve just learnt!
How much fun is this book?!
And yes, they are all in Japanese by the way. So if you don’t understand Japanese, you won’t really understand the detailed instructions. But because there are so many pretty pictures, I don’t think that’d matter. Although it does make me want to learn Japanese badly…
You can start creating some of these DIY projects by getting your hands on your own Hello Sandwich book too – order from amazon Japan and Yes Asia.
Meanwhile, check out more swoon-worthy Hello Sandwich stuff on Facebook or Instagram. I pretty much stalk her!
So what are you waiting for? Go and get crafty!
