Ever dreamed of making your own cup noodles or instant ramen? Well dream no more, just book a flight to Japan and visit Yokohama’s Momofuku Ando Cup Noodles Museum… Trust me, it’s worth your time. To begin with, you’ll actually get to see Yokohama, which is not a bad sight at all. And then there’s the fact that even Yoda got a little peko peko over Nissin’s cup noodles. If you need any more excuse to visit, …

{Tokyo Travel / Japan} Sanrio Puroland, Tama Center (Part 2): Magical twinkling stars

{Tokyo Travel / Japan} Sanrio Puroland, Tama Center (Part 2): Magical twinkling stars

Sanrio Puroland is an indoor theme park not too far from the centre of Tokyo. Sanrio is the maker of Hello Kitty, My Melody, Bad Badtz Maru, and other adorable characters… My favourite had to be Little Twin Stars. So the most exciting part for me was when we did the Twinkling Tour, a tour of Kiki & Lala’s house. Yep, a kid’s dream (i.e. mine) was about to come true. This really kawaii attendant explained some …

{Tokyo Travel / Japan} Sanrio Puroland, Tama Center (Part 1): Hello Kitty Disneyland

{Tokyo Travel / Japan} Sanrio Puroland, Tama Center (Part 1): Hello Kitty Disneyland

Most people know what Hello Kitty is. Many around the world have fallen in love with this particular cat. But a lot are not aware that there are more characters created by Sanrio that are ridiculously kawaii and equally famous (in Japan and other Asian countries). Since a young age, probably even before Disney enticed me with its magic, Sanrio has had a hold on me. My favourite would have to be Little Twin Stars. I …

10 things you’ll miss from Japan (Part 2: Winter edition)

If you love winter, you’re going to love Japan! This is part two of the four part series of “10 things you’ll miss from Japan”, the first part is all about food and it is glorious. If you have friends who love skiing, you’ve probably heard them talk about Japan in winter. You’re not going to find that in my list today, because I don’t do exercise and extreme sports is scary. Yes, I’m sad like that. …

{Japan Winter} Kamakura: Tsurugaoka Hachimangu & Komachi-dori shopping street

{Japan Winter} Kamakura: Tsurugaoka Hachimangu & Komachi-dori shopping street

Now that that’s done, here’s Kamakura: We started in Yokohama, when we walked around Minato Mirai and stumbled upon Queen’s Square for lunch. We stopped by at a katsu place called Tonkatsu Saboten (とんかつ 新宿 さぼてん). The menu looked pretty appetising (plus there’s an English menu)… and we were hungry, so in we went. As you can see, Tonkatsu Saboten didn’t disappoint. We got to crush our own sesame too, which was fun. With so many options to …

{Japan Winter} Yokohama: The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum adventure

Ramen Museum, you say?! Sign me up, I say! Yup. When I first heard of food museums in Japan (a.k.a. food theme park, i.e. a food court selling one type of food done in many ways), I was excited! And when I heard of the ramen museum in Yokohama, I knew I had to visit. We arrived in Shin-Yokohama Station from Tokyo at night time and straight away made our way to the Ramen Museum, …

{Japan Winter} JR Pass info and a quick recap of Tokyo & surrounding

{Japan Winter} JR Pass info and a quick recap of Tokyo & surrounding

I’m finally back from my hiatus after an almost 2-month break. In that time, I was back in Japan for 5 days and visited Korea for about 6 days and Indonesia (Bali) for about a week. So yup, it was a productive hiatus with more pretty pictures from my travel to come, I’m sure. Meanwhile, here’s a continuation of my blog posts on the Japan trip back in December. We finished Tokyo and surrounding. Here’s …
